Sabarimala.....Myths & Facts

There is  high hue & cry  ( for & against )  the SCI verdict....a verdant patch in the Indian judicial scenario

Prior to a final  consensus on the judgement, it would be prudent to analyse the facts   for around 4...5...millennia

Asia is the cradle of  almost all civilisations &  Most  of the religions ......barring the Mayans, Mestizos , Incas   ......of the Pacific littoral

Prior to the introduction of religions, people of these area , including the Indian Subcontinent  ......(  from Afghanistan to Bali of Indonesia ) .....were just  vagabond pagans, especially the lay legions

The learned & the erudite, albeit negligible out of sheer intellectual pursuits put forward the philosophical school...Sanathana Dharmam....
Which led the  barbarian hunter to the civilised “  MAN “

Though the elite scaled the mounts of wisdom,  the lay  & the less fortunate mass cemented their heathen faiths as such

( For them, anything above the level of their comprehension,  they attributed to God )

Lightning, Snakes, Mountains, Tall trees, Wild Animals, Waterfalls, Sea,  Boulders ....all killed them

All of the above, for fear of death , were elevated to God by different sects

( ie...Any potential Killer of Nature enjoyed the status of Gods / Demigods )

Trees, Mountains  etc could not be conveniently worshiped.....due to their mammoth stature Hence ....miniature forms.....chipped off from them (  which represented the  original giant form ).....

Here came the word....ലിംഗം ....
( A Sanskrit word which means NOTHING , but അടയാളം , ചിഹ്നം , Representation etc )

പർവതത്തിന്റെ  ലിംഗമായി  കല്ല്‌ ...
വലിയ  വൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെ  ലിംഗമായി തടി  കൊണ്ടുള്ള  വിഗ്രഹം
( സാലഭഞ്ജിക  അഥവാ  സാളഗ്രാമം  )....

The Sanskrit word “Siva “ means auspicious.....മംഗളകരമായത് ....Which brings fortunes......
ശിവമായ  ലിംഗം ....ശിവലിംഗം
( It is certainly not Siva’s Dick ....!!!!  )

With the primitive settings of the yore, escape from  this mindset, which  evolved out of fear , was almost impossible

Sanathana  Dharmam  ( SD ), a School with logic  .....piloted by the erudite of the society....( just like the current rationalists ) prevailed simultaneously,  challenging the views of the above lay guys

The spectre of  SD  dominated the spiritual scenario of entire Asia for 2...3 Millennia

The golden era of mankind....!!!
To be engraved in the annals of history for good...!!!
No idols....!!!!!
No Religions...!!!
No worships....!!!!!

Just man...man...& ...man only

No cast....creed.....sect....

Concept of SD was superb.

SD projected Man, Nature, All creations in Nature  as a “ Single Entity “

It also highlighted the importance of moderation  in all interactions of man with nature

“ സമാത്മാ  സർവഭൂതാനാം  "
Life of entire creations ...( Not man alone ...!!! ) ....are similar should be preserved & respected

" പിപീലികാദി ബ്ര്ഹമപര്യന്തം സർവമീശ്വരമയം  "
From the most tiny ant  to the mammoth creations  one should be able to discern the dignity of Almighty

“ ആത്മവത് സതതം പശ്യേത്  അപി കീട  പിപീലികം  “
In all interactions, consider all creations with empathy ( ie as yourself or as your own mirror image )  

Temples were Centres of spiritual  & scientific learning......Definitely NOT for  screaming/ prayers display of gestures in the name of god

" ക്ഷതാത്  ത്രായതേ  ഇതി ക്ഷേത്രം “
ക്ഷതങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന്‌  മനുഷ്യരെ  ത്രാണനം  ചെയ്യുന്നത്‌  ക്ഷേത്രം

അപ്പോൾ  ക്ഷതമോ ....?
" മനഃ  ശരീര ബാധാ  ക്ഷത : “

മനസിനെയും  ശരീരത്തെയും  bബാധിക്കുന്നത്  എന്തും ക്ഷതം തന്നെ

Despite all these solid decrees, vandalism especially towards animals ran rife

The mass, More so the lay,  discarded the gems of great souls as trite talks

At this juncture evolved Buddhism to spread SD in toto

There were light years from the concerned prince of Lumbini to the content sage of Gaya

Buddha never advocated the hoodwinking theory of God

He never asked anyone to seek God

Instead  he was an  ardent votary of ethics of the trio...

The fabulous...ത്രിത്വം  ....of SD

The trio of Thoughts, Words & Deeds

Buddha urged all to be pious with positive & pure trio

Any negative air of the trio, as per  his School was .....HIMSA...

Ie....Any negative thought, word or action was condemned as killing

As per his HIMSA theory, more than the  “ killed “ the killer too, got killed by a Pollution of  anyone of the trio

To propagate his school through his celibate  disciples, he established a chain of Kshethras( temples ) throughout Asia

These Kshethras....most of them..as  vide supra, ....were centres of excellence, spiritual uplift,  centres of yoga, hubs of meditation etc

Sabarimala too one among them
( as most of the major temples throughout India )

As per Amarakosam (  Circa AD 2nd Century )   “ Sastha “ is a synonym for a Buddhist monk learned enough to impart  some skills to a raw disciple

“ മുനീന്ദ്ര  ശ്രീ ഘന ശാസ്താ  മുനി  ശാക്യമുനിസ്‌തു  ബൗദ്ധശ്ച  ശൗദ്ധോദനിശ്ച  "

See the word .....Soudhodani.....means , son of Sudhodanan.......Buddha

This set up with no affiliation to any religion ( but co existence with nature )  was the dictum till the 8th Century AD

By the 8 th Century AD,  Buddhism began to wither & wane ...

Factors were manifold...

Sri Sankara felt an impending doom of SD by the “ moderate & passive “ School of Buddhism

Though not severe like recent campaigns of conversions  to the Semitic faiths ( Islam, Christian) by coercion, intimidation, torture there were telltale signs of faith change from isolated corners

Significant of them were Yaman Merchants in dhows, Camel caravans  from Bactria, Turkey

Christian clergy from Jerusalem etc

Sankarans’  concern coupled with the greed of the newly formed “ clergy class “ of SD, initiated a chain of armed attacks  ( occult & overt ) throughout Asia

Most of the Buddhist Monasteries were raced to ground

Many of them gave way to temples attributed to  “ Neo Divine Symbols “.....Krishna, Vishnu, Siva etc

Sabarimala too, NO exception

Still there are landmarks of SD & Buddhism in Sabarimala

Eg.....തത്വമസി .....

ചാന്ദ്വോഗ്‌യോപനിഷത്തിൽ  ഉദ്ദാലക  മഹർഷി ശ്രുത കീർത്തിയോട്  പറയുന്നതാണ്  രംഗം ....

Sruthakeerthi.....How can I seek God  & feel his blissful presence...?

Uddalakan......” Disciple,  Why  you slog your brain in the futile quest for God ? Its’ weird as if fire fights for flame,  It’s You, within you & you yourself & Nothing else ( ie, What you plans to seek ....God... is yourself...Your thoughts, words & deeds ,  if pure,  are the best means to feel its presence

തത്   ( that  ) ത്വം  ( you ) അസി   ( is  ) ......means.....That’s you...

SD, the Noblest School  of mankind nosedived into  the  present nadir due to the base motives of  the Brahmin clergy  & over indulgence of idolatry.....

As per SD, none are barred from ( male / female ) attaining spiritual  / scientific awareness from erstwhile Kshethras......( Not the present silhouette of temples run by the syndicate of knaves of  Government &  idiotic figurehead clergy )

It’s indeed a moment of happiness for a person of my mindset , I presume

The same bent of mind should evolve  to put an end to sexual discrimination in all other places including mosques

India is a   "  SECULAR  "  country.  Which means..... none can avail privilege of any sort.  But a scoundrel can ram  down an innocent poor man.  The culprit   ( All call him Dog......I won't,  as it will be an injustice to that animal ).  As all the  " Snowwhite " political mendicants are his bootlickers, he can roam around in Rolls Royce.  The Police of Kerala, discovered that there is a huge Tobacco Estate in Tirunelveli which belongs to this knave. ( Tirunelveli is a rainshadow region......which means There is no water at all .......How can Tobacco survive there  is a Million Dollar Question ). May I make the story brief......If you have money & religious back up all ministers act as your Dogs.  You can smuggle, Kill, Print Currency notes.........Just Give their share then & there......Thats' all.

Another example of Secularism.......All SSLC question papers carry the so called logo of  a particular community.   Strange indeed,  another victim /  servant  / agent  of religious fundamentalism  the person who claims that he decides the affairs of Port folio of Education is "  TOTALLY UNAWARE  OF THE ISSUE " .  He DOESN'T know how this happened.  Here too there is a scapegoat in the guise of a Govt. servant.

Next example of Secularism......We all have written SSLC exam.  Then too there were Muslim students & Fridays.  But there was no Friday Holiday for exams.  Is this country India or Saudi Arabia ?  Is this a sign of progress or of impending doom ?

In a vast country like India, there will be many religions &  cultural practices.  None of the community should be given any consideration.  Anybody can avail leave for anything ( including the practice or observation of their religious rituals ).  But a responsible Government should not offer it to any special group or religion to widen the gulf between people.  Unlike the Brits' rule,  this is India & we are Indians.  We are not Muslims, Christians, Budhists or Hindus.......Till the last breath we should be Indians. Just Indians.......  Why don't we say a BIG NO to all religious practices affecting our social life ( All can have ( and practise ) their religions .......in camera.....just like an undergarment .....as a VERY, VERY private & personal affair.  Then it will be pious.  Any proclamation of the same in public is  indeed disgusting & will ring the death knell of India.

What will be the status of India among other countries ?

Everyday, as the newspaper comes, there is invariably a news of mass rape. Age of the victim is often at the extremes of human life span. Either below 10 years or above 70.  What troubles the average Indian mindset ?  How can we escape from this nasty nexus ?  Who can contain this Frankenstein ?

India of the yore was indeed replete with exemplary values  coupled with resources to beckon any sailor  across the globe.  Of late, resources are being plundered by knaves who occupy the chair of power.  In their quest for reinforcement of power through the might of money, they vie to sideline values & virtues.  Desperate & backtracked by the by the corrupt & inept political vanguards the common man is forced to find solace in intoxicants.  To add insult to injury, there are hurdles like price hike, lack of social security / employment,  Taboos / Superstitions induced by cunning religious leaders......who fish in troubled waters abetted by scoundrels of political scenario.  Once caught in the doldrums of poverty & anarchy.....with a feeling of nothing to loose in future.......he is involuntarily prepared for anything.......An  ANTISOCIAL  takes birth by the blessings of the society.

How this can be prevented ??  Offer excellent education, identify the problems in the early stages of life itself.  Apart from education, impart facilities for extra curricular, recreational and  productive skills for self & for the community as a whole in later life.  Primary prevention is the best bet than secondary cure.  Superstitions of any level, be religious, cultural, social , familial, traditional etc should be checked & kept at bay.  If  not, the silhouette of India will be lost for good. Let all of us strive  together for this mighty goal.
